Seriously...I cannot remember the last weekend that we have had that wasn't FILLED with events/activities/games/rehearsals/performances, etc! We have been CRAZY busy here in the Meeker household. This post is a modge-podge of our past month of weekend activities. I have not personally been present at everyone one of these events--only because it's taken more than just Chris and I to get everyone where they needed to be at the right place and the right time. So a BIG thank you to grandparents and wonderful friends who have allowed us to use and abuse them:) We owe you--BIG time:)
So Ethan has been playing winter basketball through I9 sports. This is the only sport that he has been halfway excited about so we have been doing all we can to keep him going in this sport (since he REFUSES to try band OR anything that Carlie or Max want to do:) So every Wednesday and Friday Ethan has been at practices (running his hind end off) and every Saturday he has had a game. He has been playing on the same team as his good friend Kyle H. Kyle's parents, Tye and April, were soo gracious to take this video of Ethan MAKING A BASKET!!! WOO-HOO!!! He has actually made a couple baskets this season and we have been SUPER proud of him. (Ethan is at the backside of the mob but rest assured that it was he who makes it:)
Chris' company was in charge of "Gilbert Fest" that took place this past weekend--I was a single parent the entire week leading up to this but it all came out soo amazingly well and Chris works for the BEST company in the world--seriously, if Chris disliked his job even a little bit, I would complain. But he LOVES his job AND the people he works with so I support him 100% even if it means I'm a single parent every spring:) Chris' boss, Joel, has a vision of making Gilbert, AZ the "Winter Branson, MO" since it is too cold in Branson this time of year (too cold for the snowbirds). Chris' company brought down 2 Branson acts:
The Duttons: (Friday night--Feb. 17th)
This was the funniest part of the show according to Chris and Max: (Carlie and I were not there)
Carlie and I went to see WICKED instead! LOVED IT!!! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I was holding back tears the entire time because Carlie was SOO inspired and infatuated by it all. She has now set her life course to one day be "Elphaba"--and I would be at EVERY one of her shows:) Here we are with our GREEN fingernails:
On Saturday (Feb. 18th) Carlie's youth theater performed as part of the Gilbert Fest and so all the parents were allowed a "sneak peak" of their upcoming production--which is almost already SOLD OUT!!! They did fabulous. Carlie has been crazy busy with 3 hour rehearsals every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday with it all wrapping up the last week of March where they will perform 8 shows in a week:) Chris was the Master of Ceremonies for the Gilbert Fest event on Saturday morning--and he was pretty darn amazing too:)
The highlight of the day was when Mitt Romney's bus showed up at the Gilbert Fest event!!! (No Mitt, just his bus:) Chris' whole crew got to go on the bus! Here is a fun video that one of his cameramen (Rand) shot:
On Saturday night the second Branson act was the "Brett Family." We all got to see this show. Such a great LDS family and amazingly talented--makes me want to start our own family performing act but Ethan won't do it:) Oh well:)
The Brett Family sold these CRAZY hats at their show that Max just HAD to HAVE! It's a reversible hat and he's worn it every day since:
I like it better this way:
And FINALLY, Carlie made the 6th grade honor band again this year! Apparently she was the ONLY oboe player in all of Chandler and she did a FANTASTIC job. Carlie was able to convince one of her good friends, Taylor G. who plays clarinet, to audition for the Honor Band and she made it too! These 2 girls have been great friends at CTA for several years now. They had rehearsals with the Honor Band after school every Thursday for the past month. Here are the two beautiful band babes:
Phew....I'm exhausted just reading back over this post. I thank the Lord every day for strength beyond my own to keep up with my amazing little family. And now for this weekend....I have my Ethan's birthday party to pull off:) Bring it:)
