Funny Boys:)

So we were eating lunch today after church and the kids were talking about what their favorite TV shows/movies are when Ethan said...

"I don't like Noggin because it almost killed me!" (Noggin is a TV station that plays kid shows all day with no commercials)

And because I had NEVER heard about this I asked, "How did Noggin almost kill you Ethan?"

He expounded, "Well...when I was younger I used to like to watch 'Go Diego, Go!' but then I watched this one episode where Diego had on snorkeling gear and then he went down into the water to a sunken ship and he could still breath and talk. Well, when I was in the pool with my snorkel gear I tried that and IT DIDN'T WORK!!!"

I said, "Ohh Ethan...should we SUE them?!?!"

Max chimes in, "NO! Let's just jump him! That means we get him from behind and tie him to a chair!" (I had NO idea that Max knew how to "jump" someone! The hoodlum!!!)

So we all had a good laugh about beating up Diego. Ethan does NOT forgive/forget easily--this I've known for years:) So watch out Diego!!! The Meeker boys are looking for you:)

Another Maxism--he got me:)

So Max and Chris were at baseball practice this last Friday night. Afterwards Chris needed to run to Home Depot. Max was curious about something...

Max: "Why do they call it THE Home Depot? I mean there's like billions of them...it's not like this is the only ONE!"

Dads: "Hmmm....I don't know. Maybe you should ask mom when we get home."

Max: "WHAT WOULD MOM KNOW?! SHE'S JUST A WOMAN?!?!"

Dang! And I though Max was my mama's boy!!! I thought he was on my side:)

Thanks Max. No, I don't know much about "Home Depot/THE Home Depot" but I DO know that I gave birth to all 10 pounds of you and I would love SOME credit for that:)

Powderpuff Derby

Our stake had the CUTEST event for girls ages 8-11 this past Saturday (Sept. 10th)! They called it the "Powderpuff Derby" and it was the equivalent to the cub scouts "Pinewood Derby." All of the girls were given a car kit to make at home with their dads. HOLY COW there were some SUPER cute cars there!!!!

Carlie's car was painted "Bahama Blue" and then sprayed with glitter:)

The girls got to use the fancy/high-tech track that the boys use--complete with cameras for the photo finish! Carlie's best finish was 2nd place. She stayed right in the middle of the pack of cars--not too fast but not too slow. She came in 4th overall (which truth be told we were THRILLED with because we didn't have to come back for the afternoon finals--Carlie didn't mind either:) So way to go Carlie!!! Your car looked FANTASTIC and that's all that really mattered anyways:)

Meeker Family Update

Holy moly!!! It has been INSANELY busy around here with school being back in full swing!!! I swear the kids JUST started back to school last week but then they just brought home their progress reports this past Friday which means....they are HALF-WAY through their first quarter!!! AHHH!!!! Where does the time go! So here's a little glimpse at what we've been up to.

We'll start with the littlest Meeker. Tatum is LOVING preschool and she LOVES going 3 days a week. She just learned a new song that she has been singing over and over. I had to capture it on video because it is pretty darn cute! Here she is singing "Wiggley Tooth:"

Maxwell has been tearing it up in the 1st grade. He has been DYING to take AR reading tests like Carlie and Ethan and he FINALLY got the go-ahead so he has been reading like CRAZY and taking AR test every day! He is also in baseball this year! He is actually playing "coach-pitch" baseball with his friend Carter H. He has his first game this Thursday! Can't wait!!!

Ethan has made such HUGE improvements in school these past 4 weeks. He is working harder on his reading and writing and it definitely shows. He's moved onto bigger and better chapter books and I can finally here his speech improving each and every day--he has been in speech therapy for 2 years now just for his "R" sounds and I think this may be his last semester of it! YAHOO!!! He is also starting flag football with his good friend Kyle H. His practices start here in the next 2 weeks!!!

Carlie has been rockin' it at school with near perfect scores in everything. She is her teacher's official "TA" (teacher's assistant) and loves grading/filing/writing on the board for Mrs. Tibke. She has also been involved in auditions for more music theater stuff! I am still learning all the ins and outs of this whole business. But she had a HUGE audition this past week--1 audition for 4 different shows--and we just found out that she was cast in "Bye Bye Birdie" and then she had a HUGE callback for "Annie" which is being done again by a different company. She is 1 of 5 girls being considered for the actual "Annie" part. I'm not sure that she will get to be "Annie" mostly because we are going to be gone for a solid 6 days at the beginning of December which the company knows about and I'm pretty sure that will lessen her chances:( But it's all good. She would be thrilled to be an orphan again--we won't find out results of this until November. So for now it's all about "Bye Bye Birdie!" YAHOO!!! Here is her head shot that is on her official resume! LOVE this pic (done by my good friend Sarah Goodman:)
