Max is "Joseph!"

My family are such awesome sports--always getting drug into my Primary shenanigans!  This month we are learning all about Joseph and his "coat of many colors."  So Max very willingly volunteered to be Joseph this month.  He sure put on a great show.  The kids had the best time asking questions about his life and trying on his coat.  He was very sure to emphasize forgiving our siblings--LOTS of hilarious/mean sibling stories came out of these Primary kiddos.  He also told them how he was able to interpret dreams and even "interpreted" a few weird dreams that the Primary kids had previously had.  For example, McKay had a dream that he was in a washing machine eating a sock.  "Joseph" told him that he was probably just hungry before he went to bed that night so to make sure to eat some cereal before bed next time.  "Time Machine" Sunday is my most favorite Sunday of the month.๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—

Quick Trip to NYC!

This week was my week off from teaching piano.  Chris is back to traveling full-time--after two years off.  Tatum was supposed to have a game this week on Thursday but it was cancelled.  Chris was headed out to NYC Thursday afternoon to Saturday night and on Wednesday, he came home with the idea of, "Hey!  Come out to New York with me for a quick trip!  I'll take you to a show if you do!"  ("Broadway Show" are the magic words for me:) And since I didn't have to stay for a game, I decided WHY NOT?

So we hopped on a plane and headed out to NYC for the weekend--of course a little work was involved but totally worth it!  We had all of Friday to do whatever we wanted so first, we had to go get dumb COVID tested so that we could enter the Lincoln Center the next day (for his company's Orchestra event), then we went out and did awesome things that we had never done before!  We took a tram over to Roosevelt Island and went to see the old abandoned Small Pox Hospital--you know us and our love of creepy old/possibly haunted buildings๐Ÿ˜‚   The weather was absolutely PERFECT today!

The view of the city from Roosevelt Island

Then we took a water ferry over to Wall Street where we were able to see Alexander Hamilton's grave.

We got rush tickets to see "Dear Evan Hansen."  I had only seen the movie before and the play....WAY BETTER!!!  l loved it!

Here we are in Times Square

Saturday I helped run the Orchestra Cup event all morning.  Then we headed out for a nice lunch before heading back to the airport to head back home.  So really quick trip but absolutely worth it.  So glad I was able to go spend some time with just Chris & I in the most perfect March NYC weather!  LOVE this man of mine๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—

Tatum's 1st Softball Game of 2022

Words cannot describe how CRAZY EXCITED I am for this year's Heritage Softball Team.  These girls worked sooo hard last summer cleaning trash cans, hosting a bake sale/car wash, and then a softball clinic.  All of their hard work has paid off and we were able to buy these girls new uniforms complete with hats/visors, and much needed equipment for their team.

Tatum made the team as a 7th grader, but after one game, we were shut down due to the COVID pandemic.  Then this past year, I felt like we tip-toed through the season never really knowing IF we could have a full season and IF we would get shut down again--which thankfully we did not.  But this year we are FULL STEAM ahead!!!  The girls' first game was in Ajo, AZ this past Thursday.  They went out there--2 hour drive--not sure what to expect.  The Ajo team looked sharp with all new equipment/uniforms but our girls dominated them winning 16-3.  Not a really exciting game since the Ajo team really struggled with pitching but Tatum make 2 big hits for the team.  I was so grateful that a mom recorded this one for me:

So first game/victory in the bag!!!  Now Heritage is on spring break for the next week--Tatum is in Puerto Rico for the break with her Spanish & Science classes--then back to a busy softball schedule.  Let's go Heroes!!!

Max--MASTER of Ceremonies

This past Thursday Chris and I had to divide and conquer.  Tatum had her first school softball game in Ajo, AZ and Max had the Heritage Senior/Faculty Basketball game that he would be participating in the half-time "Dunk Contest" and then the team awards/dinner Banquet followed right after the game.  So Chris headed to Ajo and I arranged a substitute teacher for me so that I could be at the 5:00 game.

As soon as I walked into the gym, I heard Max on the mic...In my mind..."Oh no no no no!  They did NOT give my son the mic right????"  Oh yes they did.  And YES!  The kid was flippin' hilarious and a HUGE hit.  As soon as he saw me, he announced the the whole gym, "THAT'S MY MOM WHO JUST ENTERED THE GYM!!!  HER NAME IS BUFFIE MEEKER!!!  HI MOM!!!๐Ÿ‘‹"  I was a good sport and waved and smiled back.  There was no way of denying my child at that point right?  Just kidding.  I would never do that:)

This game was just for fun and everyone had a great time.  Max's commentary DEFINITELY made the night.  He had no problems filling a 1.5 hour game with hilarious commentary.  Here's a video of him announcing the teams:

A few of my favorite comments of the night:

"Which Moore brother has the ball?  I can't tell them apart...does anyone care???"

"Hey Mr. Moore, maybe in our next Modern History class, we should talk about HOW TO DRIBBLE."

"Did you know that Ricky and I watched 'The Notebook,' 'Titanic' and ALL 3 'Kissing Booths?'"

After a father and son got into a pretend fight on the court--the son was the ref and the dad was playing on the faculty team:  "That's good old fashion father/son violence.  If you don't like that  then. YOU DON'T LIKE HERITAGE BASKETBALL!!!"

Then the half-time dunk contest, Max started the show off with this AMAZING dunk assisted by his BFF Ricky.  (I love how he kisses his shirt and gives it to his Jr. High basketball kiddos that he helps as a TA in their class--they were definitely HUGE Max fans๐Ÿ’—).

Max didn't win--probably because he's not a Senior--but had a great time showing off anyways.  He then went on to finish commentating on the game.  He has since been asked to MC the upcoming talent show at Heritage AND the school morning announcements--that seems like a lot of power for a 17 year old boy๐Ÿ˜‚.  But there's no doubt that this boy has a gift.  Put him in front of an audience and something magical just happens.  I can't quite explain it.  Several of his acting coaches have called it "The IT factor."  So whatever that is, he has it.  I'm really encouraging him to go into Communications/Broadcasting in college so we'll see what happens.  This boy is gonna do great things.  Crazy proud of him.
