So it was FINALLY Max's turn for his Senior European trip! (We've taken our two older kids on similar trips close to their Senior years as well.). We like them to go and see what their dad actually does for a living AND learn/experience the amazing American History that happened over 78 years ago in France.
Chris left a day earlier than we did because he had to meet up with groups in DC. Max and I flew out the next day into Paris--a day earlier than Chris would arrive. We sat next to the nicest people on the plane--Max sat next to a young French guy that had been living in Seattle for 7 months learning English. The lady next to me was an American who had been living in Switzerland for the past 5 years working on her Bachelors/Masters degree in teaching English. Between the guy's broken English and her fluent French & English, we had the BEST conversations. Sure made the trip a lot more fun as they gave us all kinds of tips of things to do/see on our trip.
The most important thing to do on your first day in Europe is STAY AWAKE! So since we had an entire day to ourselves before Chris got there, we decided to hit Disneyland Paris. It was something we both wanted to do and after going we both agreed that the original Disneyland in California is overall better BUT we sure enjoyed the experience. The Phantom Manor (aka the Haunted Mansion) is WAY creepier in French. 👻😂 Tickets to Disneyland Paris are much cheaper and it's definitely NOT as crowded as the CA park so ride waits were not long at all--and thank goodness because we were EXTREMELY tired! I could have fallen asleep standing in line too long:). So overall, it was something fun to do to keep us awake but I probably would not do it again in the future--only because there's soooo much more to do/see in France.
